ACADEMUN is a high-school Model United Nations conference hosted by Academia International School Basel in Switzerland. Initially founded in 2023 as an internal body by students to help peers develop their research, public speaking, and international networking opportunities while allowing club members to learn organisational skills, ACADEMUN will debut internationally in October 2026. After three consistent years of developing what an ideal conference looks like, ACADEMUN combines real student experience to create a fun, diplomatic and enjoyable MUN environment.
About
What is MUN?
Model United Nations is a simulation of United Nations discussions held by and conducted by involved youth. High-school-aged students represent various UN member states to carry out international diplomacy, while learning open-mindedness and understanding different perspectives on global issues.
About Basel
Basel is a city located in the north of Switzerland on the Border of Germany and France with a population of around 300 '000. Both the birthplace of numerous cultural symbols – such as Fasnacht and Basilisk mythology – and a meeting point for international togetherness – hosting events such as Eurovision, the UEFA Women’s Euro, and Art Basel – Basel is a diverse and exciting location for both visitors and locals.
About the Secretariat
The ACADEMUN Secretariat consists of 5 of the club's most experienced students who have been attending and organising conferences consistently for 4 years. For our final year of high-school, the Secretariat intends to create an MUN experience which introduces our passion for the club to be maintained for years to come. With over 11 individual awards and a delegation trophy, the Academia Basel MUN club is constantly achieving new heights with its ventures, with members experienced in being delegates, chairing, and organising conferences. The Secretariat kindly invites anyone with a curiosity about MUN to join us on our adventure!

The Security Council has primary responsibility for the maintenance of international peace and security. It takes the lead in determining the existence of a threat to the peace or act of aggression and recommends what action should be taken
United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC)
Addressing the post-war long term future of Ukraine and it’s economic reconstruction
ECOSOC is the principal organ to coordinate economic, social and related work of the 15 UN specialized agencies, their functional commissions and five regional commissions.
World Health Organization (WHO)

My favourite MUN memory is co-chairing with Kate. A fun fact about me is that I went to 10 countries in 2025.

G’day, I’m Alex, the Head of Communications at ACADEMUN 2026. I’ve attended six conferences, won three awards, chaired ACADEMUN internally twice, and was the Co-Secretary General of the Academia MUN club 2024-25. My favourite MUN memory is having to do punishments (singing…) in external committees. A fun fact about me is that I went to 12 concerts last year.

Pryvit, I'm Kate, the Head of Logistics at ACADEMUN 2026. I've attended six conferences, of which I chaired two, and at one worked as a member of the media team. My favorite MUN memory is co-chairing with Elsa. A fun fact about me is that I used to eat puzzles as a kid!

I’ve attended six conferences as a delegate, won two awards, chaired ACADEMUN internally twice, and was Co-Secretary General of the Academia MUN club in 2024-25. My favourite MUN memory is catching my chair playing the T-Rex game as I gave my opening speech. A fun fact about me is that I speak four languages.

My favourite MUN memory is representing a country whose stance changed a few days before the conference. A fun fact about me is that my favourite animal is a chicken.

Servus und guten Tag! I’m the Supervisor of the Model UN club. After founding the Academia Model UN club four years ago, it has been a great pleasure to see how our club has grown: our students have won prizes and certificates as delegates, chaired at internal and external conferences, taught others, organised internal conferences of various sizes, and are now actively planning this amazing future conference — ACADEMUN 2026.
